The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer collection expands its heritage-inspired sports watch lineup with two distinct mechanical time-only references, the HBC003 and the HBC004.

Both models merge retro motor-racing inspiration with robust modern watchmaking standards, honoring Seiko’s rich sports timing heritage.

Seiko draws deep design inspiration from its iconic vintage chronographs and sports timing instruments of the late 1960s and 1970s. The brand engineered the Speedtimer line to embody high precision, athletic functionality, and active lifestyle appeal.

Rather than featuring a chronograph layout, these watches translate this racing DNA into a streamlined, highly readable three-hand mechanical format. They feature an internal rotating countdown bezel that operators control via a secondary crown at the 4 o’clock position.

Engineers craft the cases of both models from durable stainless steel with a protective DiaShield coating. The case measures precisely 39.5mm in diameter, 44.5mm lug-to-lug, and 12mm in thickness.

The compact proportions provide excellent wrist presence while ensuring comfortable daily wear. Curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface protects the dial, offering scratch resistance and optimal legibility under direct sunlight.

Both timepieces deliver impressive water resistance rated to 200 meters. Screw-down crowns and a solid screw case back protect the internal mechanics against moisture and dust.

Lumibrite luminescent coating coats the hands and applied hour indices, guaranteeing high visibility in dark environments. A subtle date display rests neatly between the 4:30 o’clock positions, maintaining symmetrical visual harmony across the dial surface.

Powering both watches is the in-house Seiko automatic Caliber 6R55 movement. This mechanical movement operates at 21,600 vph and offers manual winding along with a stop-seconds function.

It delivers an expanded 3-day (72-hour) power reserve, allowing the watch to run continuously over a full weekend when off the wrist.

The HBC003 delivers a vibrant, sporty aesthetic designed seamlessly for both casual and active environments. Its light blue dial showcases a fine, vertically brushed finish that dynamically catches the light while maintaining a crisp, clear appearance.

Framing this light blue center is an internal black rotating countdown ring detailing white numerals and interval markings.

For a secure and comfortable fit, the watch is paired with a multi-link retro stainless steel bracelet featuring alternating brushed and polished surfaces, all held in place by a 3-fold clasp with a push-button release.

The light blue dial contrasts sharply against the dark inner bezel and black-applied indices. Seiko accents the black central seconds hand with a striking bright orange tip.

This orange accent aligns visually with the orange 15-minute mark on the internal bezel, emphasizing quick countdown tracking during timing operations. This model is priced at JPY 141,900 or approximately US$885.

The HBC004 presents a more subtle, sophisticated look tailored for refined everyday wear. Its design features a dark brushed charcoal dial that offers a sleek monochromatic tone.

The inner rotating countdown ring matches these dark gray tones to maintain uniform visual consistency. To complete the design, Seiko pairs this reference exclusively with a premium black cowhide leather strap equipped with a secure 3-fold clasp and push-button release.

Because of the darker dial background, Seiko designers chose silver-colored hands and faceted applied markers to enhance legibility. The date disc matches the dark dial color perfectly and features clean white numeral printing.

The overall execution offers a versatile, understated vintage racing aesthetic that transitions seamlessly from casual outings to formal settings. This model is priced at JPY 136,400 or approximately US$851.
